17th Birthday
Glamping Party
For our daughter’s 17th birthday, she asked to do another glamping party in the backyard.
This year we decided to buy two smaller tents. They are still very big, but nothing compared to the giant one we had last year. We sold it because it was too big to practically use for camping. We got these two at Sam’s Club on sale at an amazing price.
We hired Sweet Slumbers to do all of the decorating inside the tents because she did an amazing job last year.
I love the attention to detail she puts into the decorations. The colors were perfect. She does everything inside of the tents including the flowers, lights, trays, lanterns, a personalized sign, and the adorable little campfire. She also included sleep masks that the girls get to keep. It’s amazing to have someone doing such a big chunk of the work!
We hung white shower curtains along the raised garden beds at the back of the yard so that we could set up the projector for a backyard movie after dark. Our daughter picked out pink and white balloons, the banner, lights, flowers, and heart shaped balloons to decorate.
Our daughter wanted everything to be pink and heart shaped. We spent the night before making heart shaped cookies, brownies, and jello, and pink cake pops. For drinks we served rose sparkling cider, cotton candy in strawberry soda, and 7up and sorbet punch. For her cake, she wanted her favorite white cake with strawberry filling. I used the same WASC cake recipe and Strawberry cream cheese filling recipe I have been using for years with whipped cream frosting.
The glamping party was a success, and all the kids had a great time. It’s the perfect party theme for older kids! It’s hard to believe that next year she will be turning 18. We have plans for a party hosted at a venue for her 18th, so this may be the last “kid” birthday party we ever throw!
